Posted on October 06, 2019
Cross-subject integration is a central implementation strategy. Learning and applying subject matter knowledge from science, history, and the arts in the context of literacy and math instruction helps instruction be more meaningful. It also helps provide efficiences to instruction. Unfortunately, school subjects are still often siloed and not integrated. This STEM Teaching Tool frames these issues and provides detailed guidance for how to approach cross-subject (interdisciplinary) integration. This resource was authored by the Supporting Elementary Science committee of the Council of State Science Supervisors and their collaborators.
